Benefits of Yoga

The Ashtanga sequence is a very dynamic routine ; the constant movement and pace mean you build up a sweat and get a cardiovascular workout. The combination of the heat generated with the stretching allows the muscles to soften. You can thus go deeper into a stretch than you would be able to otherwise. < A regular ashtanga practice can help with back, sciatica, muscular or joint pains, weight loss, and reduce cellulite. >

Prenatal Yoga is an excellent gentle practice for pregnant women preparing for child birth. The objective of yoga is to not just prepare the mind and body for a natural birth, but to also be prepared to accept required interventions with the wisdom that every birth is beautiful and wonderful. The goal of prenatal yoga is to learn to breathe and to trust a your body to know instinctively how to give birth. Gentle stretching helps the physical body get rid of discomforts, while a deep meditative pratice lets the mother-to-be connect with her unborn child and learn to be present and aware of herself and baby.

Just as Yoga can help adults with awareness and coordination, it teaches the same basic rules to children of all ages. Trained by New York’s famous Karma Kids founder Shari Valdez-Blatt, Ayesha’s philosophy behind kids’ yoga is to teach them body awareness, anatomy and coordination through simple modified poses, music and arts that entertain a child’s imagination, teaching them yoga as they play. The children practice chair pose by pretending to be bunnies and malasana when hopping like frogs. We build the strength and trust in their own bodies through dynamic poses like kicking like a horse from a short down-dog, so as they grow they can naturally progress into a handstand.
